Ford wants you to rethink what that Blue Oval badge means, in Europe at least. No more small hatchbacks like the Fiesta and the Focus. The plan is to build fewer cars, sell them at bigger profits, and double down on what Ford thinks sets it apart. Chiefly, being American. So future Fords will look more land-of-the-free, and they’ll be themed more around adventurous outdoorsyness than school-run buses. This brings us to an all-new Ford family hatchback: the Explorer. It’s a medium-sized all-electric crossover with five seats, a big square boot, and a chunky-but-friendly look about it. It’ll go on sale later this year with prices starting at less than £40,000, which slots it neatly between the current hybrid Kuga and the all-electric Mustang Mach-E. Kai prieš kelis metus dariau debiutuojančio naujos, trečios kartos „Ford Kuga“ apžvalgą (🤍 sakiau – nors Europoje tai yra vienas populiariausių savo klasės atstovų, Lietuvoje tiek naujas, tiek ir naudotas jis toli gražu nėra lyderis. Kodėl? Šią statistiką prisiminiau kai sulaukiau pageidavimo apžvelgti naudotą antros kartos „Ford Kuga“ (savo norus galite išreikšti palikdami atsiliepimą po peržiūrėtos vaizdo medžiagos) – sukurtas ir gaminamas Europoje, „Ford Kuga“ buvo ir yra tarp populiariausių segmento modelių, ir naujo modelio testo metu populiarumu nusileido tik tokiems bestseleriams kaip „Volkswagen Tiguan“, „Nissan Qashqai“ ir „Peugeot 3008“. Trumpai apie „Kuga“ istoriją. Pirmoji karta pasirodė 2007 metais, gana greitai (2013 m.) debiutavo ir antroji šio modelio karta. Kodėl taip greitai? Ogi todėl, kad Europoje sukurtas automobilis pakeitė tuomet JAV rinkoje gamintą panašaus dydžio „Escape“ modelį, kuris buvo bendraplatformis su „Mazda Tribute“. Tad amerikiečiai, vadovaudamiesi globalia „One Ford“ strategija, panaudojo pasiteisinusią europinio modelio koncepciją ir nuo tada tiek JAV, tiek ir Europoje, nors ir parduodamas skirtingu vardu, iš esmės tai buvo vienas ir tas pats automobilis. Kuo gi jis viliojo savo pirkėjus? Pirmiausiai, kaip dar kartą įsitikinau bandydamas šį naudotą automobilį ir kuris yra parduodamas „Longo LT“ naudotų automobilių aikštelėje, jis patrauklus ne tik savo išvaizda, geromis komplektacijomis ir simpatiškai atrodančiu salonu, bet ir važiavimo savybėmis, kurias įvertins mėgstantys sportiškai valdomus automobilius. Tiesa, kadangi jam nesiūloma reguliuojamo standumo pakaba, tad amortizavimas yra gana kietas, o ir pats vairo stiprintuvo veikia gana standžiai, tad jei jums patinka lengvai besisukantis vairas ir minkščiau suderinta pakaba, greičiausiai tai nebus jūsų svajonių automobilis. 2016 metais antros kartos „Kuga“ buvo atnaujintas – pasikeitė ne tik išvaizda, bet ir buvo įdiegta nauja „Sync 3“ multimedijos sistema, kuria naudotis tapo kur kas patogiau. Be to, atsirado „Apple CarPlay“ ir „Android Auto“ sąsajos, o tai – jau šiuolaikinio automobilio požymis. Kalbant apie salono apdailą, nors radau ne vieną atsiliepimą, kad medžiagų kokybė neatitinka klasės standartų, bet bent jau šiam „Titanium“ versijos modeliui po atnaujinimo priekaištų neturėjau – pakanka tiek minkšto plastiko, tiek ir nemačiau priežasties skųstis dėl surinkimo kokybės. Kadangi gamintojas bandė „Kuga“ pristatinėti kaip aukštesnės klasės atstovą, modeliai iki atnaujinimo buvo gaminami išskirtinai tik su gana didelio 2 l darbinio tūrio dyzeliniais varikliais, taip pat 1,6 l turbobenzininiais motorais. Vėliau pastaruosius pakeitė labiau šiuolaikiniai 1,5 l „Ecoboost“ benzininiai motorai, gamoje atsirado ir taupūs (bet ne itin energingi) kaip ir šiame bandytame modelyje 1.6 l turbodyzeliniai 88 kW (120 AG) varikliai. Su galingiausiais motorais buvo galima visų ratų pavara, tačiau didžioji automobilių dalis buvo parduodami vien tik su priekiniais varančiaisiais ratais (šios klasės standartas). Dar reikia atkreipti dėmesį, kad senesni benzininiai motorai galėjo būti komplektuojami su gana vangiai veikiančiomis hidraulinėmis automatinėmis transmisijomis, kurias vėliau pakeitė šiuolaikiškos dviejų sankabų „PowerShift“ pavarų dėžės. Ir nors modelis neišsiskyrė didžiausia klasėje bagažine (tokias turėjo „Škoda Kodiaq“ ir „Seat Ateca“), tačiau „Kuga“ salonas yra erdvus, vietos gale sėdinčių keleivių kojoms ir virš galvų yra pakankamai, matomumas per didelį priekinį langą geras (iš esmės sėdėjimas vairuotojo vietoje labiau primena vienatūrį nei lengvąjį modelį), o automobiliai pasižymi geromis komplektacijomis ir įranga. Ir nors aštriadančiai sako, kad gamintojo vardas reiškia „Fix Or Repair Daily“ (taisyk arba remontuok kasdien angl.), bet „Kuga“ neišsiskiria dideliu gedimų skaičiumi. Tiesa, internete galima rasti informacijos, kad Pietų Afrikoje užsiliepsnodavo modeliai su senesniu 1,6 l benzininiu motoru, tačiau tokių atvejų Europoje nepasitaikė. „Longo LT“ naudotų automobilių specialistai sako, kad „Kuga“ būdingi elektronikos gedimai ir prietaisų skydelyje rodomi pranešimai apie blogai veikiantį variklį. Tradiciškai atsiranda problemų dėl dyzelinių variklių purkštukų, taip pat reikia atkreipti dėmesį į 2.0 l dyzelinių motorų alyvos karterius, kurie gali įtrūkti.
