Today we’re looking at the new mic from HyperX which is a direct competitor to the Blue Yeti, the QuadCast. This is a USB Multi-pattern condenser microphone designed as a Streaming Mic, Gaming Mic, and Discord Mic. The mic does a decent job at rejecting background noise (while on the cardioid polar pattern), and the shock mount also does a decent job at rejecting bumps of the desk. However, the mic does suffer from serious plosive issues. The A/D conversion maxes out at 16-bit/48kHz, and all around it’s just an alright mic, in my opinion. Here is a review of the HyperX QuadCast and if the microphone is any good in 2022! I have been using this microphone for over a year and I love it and its still working like a charm. This review is not a comparison towards other microphones and is strictly a review of the product on its lone some. There are probably better microphones for there price range but I just really enjoy the look of this microphone and the audio quality is still amazing to my ears. This is my full review and test of the HyperX Quadcast S condenser microphone. This is an RGB USB microphone that works with PC, Mac, and many applications for gaming and live streaming. In this review, I will compare the HyperX Quadcast S against the Blue Yeti and the Rode NT-USB Mini microphones. This HyperX Quadcast S is great for gamers, live streaming, podcasting, and voice-over applications. Blue Yeti: 🤍 HyperX QuadCast: 🤍 Want to get great audio in your streams, multiplayer games and content creation? Today we are talking about two of the most popular USB microphones on the market right now, that is the Hyper X Quadcast and the Blue Yeti, both extremely popular choices for gamers and Twitch streamers alike. Both the HyperX Quadcast and the Blue Yeti have been out for a while now, but they are constantly compared to each other and are still real competitors when it comes to being some of the best USB mics in their price range. The Quadcast comes in HyperX's trademark black and red colours, with the microphone being illuminated whenever the user is audible. If you want to go a level higher to the Quadcast S you get the bonus of RGB customization, but the base model is fixed in crimson. The regular Quadcast does come with some features that make it a great mic for streaming and content creation straight out of the box, such as its integrated pop filter and tap-to-mute functionality. Up against it is the Blue Yeti. It's a larger and heavier device than the Quadcast but still comes with the same four audio profiles. It does, however, have better audio monitoring functionality with its adjustable passthrough to allow the user to monitor their audio levels during livestreams or recording sessions. While these USB microphones are very similar, in the video above we go through the differences that separate them and name our mic pick for gamers and content creators. Audio and voiceover were recorded with each microphone during the relevant sections, and treated with identical post-production settings to ensure a fair comparison.

Here I'm comparing the HyperX Procast and the HyperX Quadcast S. The HyperX ProCast is a broadcast quality condenser microphone with highlights that include a pop filter, shock mount and great style. It looks a lot like the original Quadcast and that's no bad thing as it's got a great aesthetic and good features too. However it is an XLR mic so you will need a mixer or pre amp setup, you also need a boom arm and XLR cable. Naturally the sound you get out of it will vary depending on the environment you're in but also the settings you're using on your pre-amp. You might need to tweak the noise gate, compressor and other settings to get it sounding good. Though I found it mostly seems to block out sound and keep things quiet. In this video I'm talking to you about how to make the HyperX Quadcast and Quadcast S sound better. The settings you need to tweak on your Quadcast or Quadcast S, within Windows, on the mic and in the software in order to make it sound great. There are all sorts of things you can do to make the HyperX Quadcast sound fantastic and these are some of them: 1 - get it on a boom arm and get it close to your mouth 2 - reduce the gain as much as possible 3 - set it to Cardioid pick up pattern 4 - download firmware using Ngenuity 5 - set the mic to 48KHz/16-bit sample rate in Windows sound settings 6 - Make sure it's selected as the default communication device 7 - Apply other settings in OBS In this video I'm showing you how to tweak sound settings in OBS too, including adjust bit rate and sample capture in sound settings, applying filters, using the monitoring to check the levels and more. I'm also showing you how to use 🤍NVIDIAGeForce Broadcast to apply AI powered noise cancellation to your mic as well. This will help too, assuming you have a good quality RTX graphics card. I'm honestly pretty biased against USB microphones these days, I'm not afraid to admit it. So I expected the HyperX Quadcast to be another terrible microphone like many "gamer mics" before it... but the Quadcast turned out to be pretty awesome! The HyperX QuadCast is a full-featured standalone USB condenser microphone. This Quick Start Guide will help you get set up and started. 🤍 Polar Patterns Four selectable polar patterns are available, including Stereo, Omnidirectional, Cardioid, and Bidirectional. Set the switch to the pickup pattern you need. Stereo If you’re recording something with vocals or instruments that you want output in 2-channel stereo, then select the stereo setting. While in this mode, the QuadCast will record audio as a stereo image, so you can easily record stereo audio without needing a second microphone. Omnidirectional Select this pattern to select if you want to record all the sound in the entire room for things like a conference call or a multi-person podcast. Omnidirectional captures sound from all directions. Cardioid For things like single-person streaming and voiceovers, select the cardioid pattern. This is best for a single audio source directly in front of the microphone. Bidirectional If you’re recording a face-to-face interview, the bidirectional pattern will be the setting you want to use since it captures sound from the front and back. Tap to Mute A convenient tap-to-mute sensor lets you simply tap the top of the mic to mute it. The LED indicator makes it easy to tell whether you’re muted. If the LED indicator is lit, the mic is active, if it’s off, the mic is muted. Knowing your mic status will help prevent embarrassing on-stream accidents. Headphone Monitoring The headphone output allows you to monitor your microphone output on a headphone. Just plug a headset into the back of the QuadCast and you can hear what is being captured. Mic monitoring can be disabled on PC and Mac. Consult manual for instructions based on your OS. Mount Adaptor The QuadCast comes with a 3/8 and 5/8 inch mount adapter that fits most mic arms. Remove the screw connecting the mic to the stand. Attach the mount adapter, and the QuadCast and its built-in shock mount can now be attached to the boom arm.
This is a video to compare the Elgato Wave:3 USB microphone with the HyperX Quadcast S. Both fantastic microphones, with slightly different appeal. Like the original Quadcast, the HyperX Quadcast S is great for plug and play capabilities, while the Elgato Wave 3 is fantastic for its customisation options for audio routing for streamers.
