In today's video, let's break down different car-sharing platforms! In 2021 we have a lot of different options to choose from when it comes to which car-sharing platform we want to use, which ones are best...etc. So, let's talk about it! 00:39 - Car-Sharing Platforms...What Are Our Choices? When it comes to car-sharing platforms there are a lot to choose from, the 4 main players include Turo, Avail, HyreCar, and GetAround. So, in this video, we are going to be breaking down the different aspects of each of these platforms. 01:50 - Turo Turo is of course the platform I talk about most on this channel, it is also the one I have the most experience with. When it comes to Turo there are a lot of pros - it has the most market share, meaning more people know Turo exists. This is, of course, good for you because it means there are more people to rent your cars. Turo requires cars to be 12 years or newer with 130k miles or less. The downside of Turo is that it is not very passive as you have to check in the cars 24 hours before and after a rental - this can make traveling very difficult. Turo has a lot of potential for scale and growth, but the semi-passive to non-passive nature of the business may make it unappealing to some. 04:22 - Avail Avail is the most passive car-sharing platform on this list. Avail is a new car-sharing platform that targets people who travel and thus leave their car at the airport. The whole idea behind it is if you need to travel and park your car at an airport you could instead leave your car with Avail and they will rent your car to people while you are gone. The appeal here is that you do not need to pay for parking, you get a free car wash, you make some money and Avail handles everything. Avail only allows 4 cars on the platform, so it really isn't great for someone wanting to scale a large operation, but for the weekend traveler wanting to make some extra cash, it could be a good option. 06:34 - GetAround GetAround is a platform that targets gig workers as renters, unlike Turo which forbids people from using Turo as a way to gain access to cars fo the purpose of doing Uber, Lyft, DoorDash...etc. GetAround encourages it, in fact, they target people for this purpose. GetAround is passive and scalable, but the lack of control in the business model could be a negative for some. 10:00 - HyreCar HyreCar is one that at one point was a real competitor for Turo, but has since fallen to the wayside. HyreCar has a bad reputation with a laundry list of issues with its claims process. Uber Australia and New Zealand General Manager of Rides Dominic Taylor says the ridesharing company is launching a new car sharing platform, Uber Carshare, to “operate Australia more efficiently with less cars”. Uber acquired Australian start-up Car Next Door earlier this year and today launched their rebrand of the platform. “Car sharing will be the great next disruptor of Australian transport,” he told Sky News Business Reporter Edward Boyd. Mr Taylor said the new initiative will bring together car owners with people who require access to a vehicle. “Whether it’s for a couple of hours or a couple of days, you can click a button on the Uber app and within five minutes you can get instantaneous access to a car in your neighbourhood,” he said.

This results in a visit to the car wash to clean the now dirty windscreen, and while they are there, Kayleigh's unusual fear of water is discovered when she suffers a panic attack. Thankfully, John's support and a daydream to MMMBop gets her through. (The dream sequence features a Bedknobs and Broomsticks style animation featuring Kayleigh swimming under water).
